What Are We Doing On This Earth? (Part 1)

"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23,24)

Earth is a place of proving. It is like a higher institution where students enrol, do a lot of activities, take lessons and write exams. One day, they graduate and exit the school. Some will pass and some will fail. The summary of everything we do on earth is an opportunity to qualify as true worshippers in eternity. What we are doing here on earth does not end here. If we look at the small picture, we can say we are here to fulfil purpose, fulfil a destiny, leave a mark on the sand of time and reach our potential. But if we dare look at the bigger picture, we would realise we are here to learn to worship God in spirit and in truth so that we can be true worshippers of God in eternity.

A child in school may think he is there to solely enjoy himself, engage in various activities, win gold medals in sports, lead his fellow students in agitations against the school authorities or even become the president of the student union. As long as those things are not vices, the parents are ok with them. They can even encourage their child in his efforts and commend him as he makes those landmarks along the way. However, from the parents' point of view, those are not the important things. There is only one reason why the parents are sponsoring this child in school. They want him to learn and graduate with excellent results so that he can progress to the next level. The overall aim is for the child to fulfil his destiny in life. However, this child must navigate his way, make choices, pass his exams and graduate to fulfil his destiny.
